Dog Symptoms for Ringworm

Signs of ringworm are typically circular patches of broken hair in ring-like whirls. These areas usually heal at their centers, growing darker than normal hair. Surrounding this darkened area is a band of inflamed, reddened skin within which the hair is also broken off short. The most common areas for ringworm to occur are the face, ear tips, tail and paws. When these areas are examined with an ultraviolet light source the broken hair shafts often fluoresce.

In the few cases where the lesions are itchy, the skin is crusty, bumpy and infected with bacteria. Ringworm of the body shows up as a flat, round patch anywhere on the skin except for the scalp and feet. The groin is a common area of infection (groin Ringworm). As the rash gradually expands, its center clears to produce a ring. More than one patch might appear, and the patches can overlap. The area is sometimes itchy.

There is a non toxic cure for pet ringworm. PetsBestRx products are highly effective in eliminating ringworm in pets quickly and safely. Many people ask, “how long does it take to get rid of ringworm”? The answer is simple…. In 3 to 5 days! PetsBestRx has antifungal and ringworm lotions to respond to every skin type and each type of pet! For more information, visit our website at www.petsbestrx.com/PetRingworm.

Unlike human ringworm, the type of ringworm that is found on animals may have many different appearances. Ringworm is the most common infectious skin disease in cats. Although not as prominent, it can also affect animals including but not limited to: rabbits, dogs, chinchillas, ferrets, hedgehogs, cattle, horses and show lambs.

Caused by a highly contagious type of fungus, ringworm is easily transmitted by direct contact with fungal spores on the hair of infected animals, bedding and/or soil. On farms, acres and acres of fence line spotted with tufts of snagged animal hair can host ringworm fungus for years; therefore, horses and other livestock may be continually susceptible to ringworm re-contamination.

I lost my dog last year to my vet's mistake, what do I do now?

Christmas day 2005, my dog passed away right in front of my eyes, and I feel my vet's to blame. See, my dog had been feeling bad for over a week and the "doctor" took blood samples way before she died. At the beginning, he said that my dog had arthritis and gave her some meds for that but never got the answers from the blood test. Then all of a sudden at 7am on 12/25 my dog died. FIVE days later, AFTER I call the vet, I was told that my dog had Kidney failure. Now that doesn't happen overnight- it takes a while before one can have kidney failure, there are so many symptoms involved. My question here is, should I sue the VET? His negligence killed my dog! I do not know what to do, but I know that I want some revenge. My beautiful baby could be still alive if he had been honest with us (anyone from Long Island, DO NOT GO TO THE BELLPORT ANIMAL HOSPITAL- ALL CROOKED PEOPLE!!!!!) Please advise.

This was more than a year ago, so suing him would be a waste of time. You have nothing to prove negligence. To be honest with you, kidney failure is fatal. No cures around for it. I can understand your upset over it all, I lost my bichon frise and felt that if she had been diagnosed sooner (she had cushings disease and really suffered for a long time from it) she might have survived. But, there is no way of knowing that for sure. All I did know was she died and I was/am heartbroken. But blame isn't the answer either.

I can't speak for these vets that you mentioned, but most truly love animals and do their very best to help them. It hurts them when they lose an animal. Revenge isn't the answer, it will hurt you more than them.
