What causes seizures and paralysis in large dogs?
Our 11 year old German Shepherd had progressive arthritis for the past few years. In the last few months, he's lost almost complete use of him feet. We took him to the vet, and the vet was unable to diagnose his condition, but suspected that it might be a neurological or spinal issue. So we made an appointment with a vet neurologist.
Tonight, he had a seizure.
He's been checked for everything, hasn't been exposed to distemper. The only symptoms are the paralysis and now, the seizures.
He still eats and drinks, his stool is normal, and he's urinating normally (we put him on supports to do his business...)
My whole family is upset! What's wrong with our boy?
Just the normal rabies and distemper. Nothing fancy. And he had the paralysis before his shots.
Oh, this must be just heartbreaking to watch your devoted companion suffer this way.
It sounds like a tumor pressing on the spinal cord or brain.
