Dog takes Rimadyl for arthritis, need easier on stomach alternative?

-12 year old dachshund mix currently on Rimadyl for arthritis [and old back injury], but causes upset stomach if taken continuously for a week, so I am having to give it to her every other day for stomach reasons.
-Wondering if anyone else has had this side effect [I know it is a common one with Rimadyl and other NSAID pain relievers] and what they changed to.
-I already supply her with glucosamine, joint senior speacial dog food, and other natural supplements/ treats throught the day- so thank you for the advice, but it is already happening. haha so is a heating blanket on cold days.. she is ssppoilled.

FYI- Tramadol is not a narcotic. It's a synthetic opiod and can have diassociative effects so it's not really best for frequent use. Lots of people complain it makes their dogs sleepy, but maybe that's OK for you.

Ask your vet about NSAIDS that are COX-2 inhibitors, they're supposed to be easier on the GI system. Deramaxx is a common one.

If you find you've got to give Rimadyl make sure you're giving it to her on a full stomach and ask your vet about giving a GI protectant with it.
