Distance Learning Veterinarian Technician - Career Preparation for Animal Lovers

Several distance learning veterinarian technician programs are accredited by the AVMA. Veterinary medicine has become very complex and sophisticated in recent years. Veterinarians use skilled veterinary technicians to perform routine clinical and laboratory procedures. The need for veterinary technicians is expected to grow. Veterinary technician training programs throughout the US are accredited by the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association).

The AVMA accredits veterinarian technicians programs that are conducted in laboratory, or clinical settings, and involve the humane use of live animals. Most of these programs lead to an associate degree, after 2 years of study. Some lead to a baccalaureate degree, after 4 years. Working as a Veterinary Technician

Veterinary technicians work under the supervision of licensed veterinarians. They help them by providing nursing care, preparing for surgery, collecting specimens, advising owners of animals, etc. They are not permitted to prescribe, diagnose, perform surgery, or to do anything that is prohibited by the state's practice act.

The Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine offers an online Veterinary Technology Distance Learning Program. This Associate of Science Program is accredited by the AVMA and is meant for students who are employed elsewhere. Students are required to complete a Clinical Mentorship, with a veterinarian.

The Blue Ridge Community College offers a Veterinary Technology associate degree program, accredited by the AVMA. The program starts every 3 years and is conducted via a live 2-way television connection. One of the eligibility requirements is that applicants must be employed by a veterinarian for at least 20 hours a week.

Distance learning veterinarian technician programs are suitable for students who are employed by a veterinarian or who have developed a relationship with one. Look for an accredited program that is nationally recognized.

veterinarian???

hey guys i'm 15 and I now volunteer a few times a week for up to 8 hours a day at the local animal shelter. I was wondering what are the steps to becoming a veterinarian or a vet tech(i.e. how many years to take, best college, what courses to take)

Its a good start to work a animal shelter. I'm 13 and I am in a course threw Texas A&M thats done threw 4-h. We have a book and monthly classes, we got to go to A&M.. it was so cool we had 3 classes with the profesers.. got to see the hole campus the facilitys were they keep the large animals. and stick are hand up a cows butt.. fun fun lol. In this program you have to finish so many cources in a year, and have so many hourse depending on you age. I work at a local vets office.. the only thing is he dosent go to large animal house calls, which is what I want to do. But me and another girl in the class go once a week. We do alot of stuff, im 13 shes 10 so I do the bigger stuff. We do everything from clean up dog crap , to watch and help with the surgerys. We play with the smallers dogs outside, we have washed a mastif in the horse stall lol, done stuff with neddals, helped owners with dogs, and and refelled the frige with coke. Today we got to feed a baby dear that go stuck in a fence, last week he would about kill him self when you got close to his cage.. 2day we got him out a feed him are ourselfs.. so cute and fun!!Its alot of fun and teaches you everything you need to know to be vet.. well hope this helps you !!!
